Since med fusion began operation in May, the company has recycled approximately 42% of its waste stream. This includes standard items that are recycled including plastic, glass, paper, cardboard, toner cartridges and pallets. In addition to the standard items, med fusion has also been able to recycle other items such as an incubator and a refrigerator.
This has resulted in a total landfill avoidance of over 13 tons of material.
In addition, to “normal” recycling, med fusion employees have been bringing in old cell phones for recycling through Cell Phones for Soldiers. The phones are sent to a company which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each donated phone. Each donated phone sold provides an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad.
